ZTE called an impromptu press conference today to announce the third device in its Zmax series and the heir apparent to the Zmax 2 launched last year. The latest in the Z series will be called Zmax Pro and it appears that this device will be sold in the US market.
ZTE have formed the view that the Zmax Pro will only have to contend with only two main rivals in the US market: that being the Samsung Galaxy J7 and the LG Stylo 2. And according to ZTE,”The Zmax Pro is simply the one to beat” and they also believe it will come out on top because not only does it have better specs, it comes in at a cheaper price. The Zmax Pro comes packing Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 617 chipset in its engine room (with a 1.5 GHz octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU and Adreno 405 GPU), 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage,a 6-inch 1080p touchscreen, a 13 MP main camera with phase detect autofocus and LED flash, a 5 MP front shooter, a USB Type-C port, a fingerprint scanner on the back, a 3.5 mm headset jack, 4G LTE, and a 3,400 mAh battery.
It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow and also supports memory expansion via SD Card. Apparently it will be available at MetroPCS, without any need to sign contracts, for $99. ZTE makes a bold claim that the Zmax Pro is in the record books for becoming the best specs in a smartphone for under $100. ZTE also says that If you pre-register for the Zmax Pro prior to July 31, you will receive a free leather case for the phone when you make the purchase.
