The company ZTE on the successor of Axon 7 made it wait for users over two years, but it was finally presented at IFA 2018 in Berlin. The new flagship of the Chinese producer will go straight to the market with the addition of a “pro” in the name. What makes Axon 9 Pro stand out?
The OLED display of the Axon 9 Pro is 6.21 inches tall and has a resolution of 2,248 x 1,080 pixels. At the upper edge is a recess, the so-called Notch, in which the front camera and sensors are installed. The screen has a format of 18.7: 9 and supports HDR10 playback. A color sensor adjusts the color rendering of the display to the respective ambient light.
In addition, the image optimization Axon Vision to lead to better color reproduction and smooth video playback. A separate display processor should be able to process up to 500 MB per second. Frame rates of 24 and 30 frames per second can be artificially increased to 60 frames per second.
Inside the smartphone worked a Snapdragon 845, Qualcomm’s current top SoC. The main memory is 6GB, the built-in flash memory is 128GB. The dual camera on the back consists of two lenses with different focal lengths: The main camera has 12MP, the pixel size is 1.4μm. The initial aperture is f / 1.75, the camera also has an optical image stabilizer.
The second lens has 20MP and is with a viewing angle of 130 degrees much wider than the main objective. With its dual camera, ZTE relies on a comparable system to LG, which also installs a second, wide-angle camera in their devices. The camera should assist the user with the help of artificial intelligence during the recording. Thus, different scenes are to be detected or moving objects to be tracked.
The front camera has a 20MP (f / 2.0). Photo enhancement software is supported and allows you to use the unlock feature of your smartphone with a Face Unlock.
The housing is made of glass and metal and protected against water and dust according to IP68. The battery has a nominal charge of 4000mAh, at runtime makes ZTE no indication. Thanks to Quickcharge 4+, the battery can be quickly charged via the USB-C port, and the smartphone can also be charged wirelessly via Qi. The Axon 9 Pro is delivered with Android 8.1.
The Axon 9 Pro supports LTE and Wi-Fi 802.11ac. Bluetooth is running in version 5.0, an NFC chip is installed. The phone is also equipped with ultra-linear dual speakers, support Dolby sound, the official said that there is HiFi-level sound quality.
The Chinese do not reveal when exactly Axon 9 Pro goes on sale. We only know that the device should come in September 2018 in Germany, and soon you can buy it in other European countries.
