The people that know me, are aware that I’m a big Xiaomi fan and I prefer their products. Yi, is a company that is working with Xiaomi, with very good products, of high quality. I already have bought a YI Home Camera 720p from China which works with the Chinese version of Yi Home. As this camera was bought from about two years, I wanted something new. Since I had already something from the Amazon Store of YI, I searched again what to get. This time I choose to get the YI Dome Camera 1080p, a 360° security camera with very good specs.
The camera came to me with DHL, without of course to have to pay any customs, since it came to me from the UK store of the YI. The camera came very fast and well protected. Opening the protective box from the Amazon, came across a big white box, with a big window from where you could see the Yi Dome camera. On the front side you could see the logo of the Yi and the name of the camera, Dome Camera 1080p.
On the other side of the box, we can see the main specs of the camera.
At the back side, you can see a big sticker where you can see all specs of the camera.
At the bottom of the box you can find the QR code that you must scan in order to find and download the app from Playstore, Yi Home.
Inside the box you can find the Dome camera, a charging cable, a EU adaptor for the power socket, and a base with two brackets with which you can mount the camera on the ceiling or a wall. The camera needs a TF external card in order to save there the video that records in a loop. Activating and working with the camera is very easy. Connect the cable to a power source and connect it to the camera. A blue light will start to blink. Scan the QR code and download the Yi Home from the Google Playstore.
The Yi Dome Camera 1080p features a 112° wide-angle advanced glass lens.It combines a 345° horizontal & 115° vertical rotation range. Together these movements create a total 360° coverage, in order to see everything! The camera features and night vision, with no light pollution. It also features baby cry, to activate alarm when it understands that a baby cries. The microphone is a 2-way with built-in anti-noise filter. In case of a motion tracking alert, it records a 10sec video and centers the moving object. At the app you can bookmark up to 8 positions and see them again and again.
The camera will connect with your 2.4GHz network (5GHz is not supported yet) and through it will communicate with the app at your mobile. From there you have full access, with a lot of info about the camera, settings, firmware and alerts to see.
Surf around the settings in order to set up the camera as you like. Check if you have the latest firmware and options to alert you.
If you have an other camera from Yi, bought from China, will not work with this version, so you will have to have two versions of the app, as I do. But you can understand who version is who from the color of the icon. From the app you can check what the camera sees whenever you want, from wherever you want.
Check my video review, with unboxing and full demonstration of the camera working.
The Yi Dome Camera 1080p is a really very good camera. The 1080p are real and even in the night you can see very clearly in the room. The communication is much faster from the old one 720p camera that I also have from Yi. Having the EU version, means you don’t hear anything in Chinese, the whole pair between the camera and your mobile is in English and is done easily and fast. You can get the Yi Dome Camera 1080p from the UK store of Yi, from Amazon for only £52.99 or 70.5$.
