Samsung and Huawei were the first to present smartphones with flexible displays. These, however, are having some problems with the arrival on the market. Galaxy Fold due to problems found on the test drives and Mate X due to the block imposed by Trump. Meanwhile, it seems that Sony will also come into play with what is called Xperia F.
According to some sources, the Japanese manufacturer plans to present its folding smartphone in 2020. It also appears that Sony will use Samsung’s flexible OLED display and that it will have a 21: 9 aspect ratio. A feature we have already seen on the latest Xperia smartphones and that could become the peculiarity of the brand’s devices. If so, then a similar design to the Motorola RAZR that we have dealt with in various articles is conceivable.
Apparently, Xperia F will also have 5G support. Sony may decide to present it during the next Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. It could be an attempt to revive the fortunes of the smartphone division which in the last year has shipped only 6.5 million devices. Despite the negative results, the company does not intend to abandon the smartphone business but will mainly focus on four key markets: Japan, Europe, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
Other manufacturers such as Xiaomi, Motorola, LG, and Sharp should also arrive in the folding smartphone market. And even though it was thought that 2019 would be the year of folding smartphones.
