For 418 weeks, Xiaomi has released the beta version of MIUI, the customized interface for its smartphones, allowing users to test new features in advance, receiving valuable feedback in return.
Starting from July 5, in order to improve the quality of its software, Xiaomi has decided to adopt a new strategy, to focus more on developing new features with the latest versions of Android, as this post reports on the official Chinese forum.
The beta versions of MIUI will, therefore, be released exclusively for smartphones on the market for no more than a year, with new recruitment campaigns for those devices updated to the latest version of Android and destined to collect new private beta testers.
The low-end Redmi products will be excluded from the beta program, in Chinese or global versions, but will continue to receive updates of the stable version, as will happen for all Xiaomi smartphones excluded from the new MIUI team policies.
Xiaomi, therefore, advises its users to switch to the stable version of the ROM to continue to stay up to date. Even the stable version will still have a sort of internal beta program, to guarantee the necessary tests before the actual release to the end users.
