According to digital blogger @DigitalChat, Xiaomi and Redmi are developing three engineering models based on the SM8475 chip, one of which is testing a 50Mp oversize lens and two 1/1.5″ oversize lenses, both with 2K flexible screens, but divided into straight and curved versions.
He also stressed that these three models are based on the SM8475 platform from the beginning, and it is likely that sm8475 will also be used for previous unreleased Snapdragon 8 Gen1 phones, such as the mi 12 Ultra.
Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen1 is code-named SM8450, and the snapdragon 8 Gen1 Plus (Snapdragon 8+), which is based on TSMC technology, will be launched in the second half of this year as SM8475. Judging from the previous revelations, the new platform’s heat accumulation problem has been slightly improved, but don’t hold your breath.
@digichat.com previously said, “Someone asked L1 (Mi 12 Ultra or MIX5, whatever the next flagship), it will still be SM8450 (snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip) in January, but it will be delayed to Q2 and platform change is not out of the question during THE NPI phase. But I haven’t seen a replacement yet.”
According to previous reports, Mi 12 Ultra rear camera module is expected to have a circular shape with an oversized base in the center and a large number of holes around it. It is expected to have a submersible telephoto lens, an ultra wide angle lens and so on. Leica cameras are expected to be co-branded. The Mi 12 Ultra will also be powered by a new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip.
According to sources, Mi 12 Ultra will feature a 2K Samsung flexible OLED screen with a center hole and a rear tri-camera module. The main camera is expected to be equipped with a 50MP Samsung GN2 sensor measuring 1/1.12 inch. It will also be complemented by a 48MP ultra wide angle lens and a 48MP periscope lens.
