Like Huawei and Samsung, Xiaomi will be launching its own foldable phone and Mi Fold foldable smartphone (although it is still unknown if this will be its proper name) was shown a few months ago. It was a prototype at the time, but the device is constantly being improved.
Now the Chinese have opened another secret. A patent has appeared in the European intellectual property office that tells us what the camera should look like.
According to the 91mobiles page, the images that appear in the patent described, the folding smartphone of Xiaomi has only one screen, which folds out every time you use it in the folding mode. The device has two large hinges, which will allow the screen to be easily folded without being damaged. When folded, the device appears to have a smaller single screen on the front and two screens on the back.
As you can see, the folding smartphone has three cameras at the back, which are perpendicular to the middle of the phone. Interestingly, the selfie camera facing forward does not appear at all in the designs that have been filed. The overall design of the folding Xiaomi smartphone is almost the same as we’ve seen in various teasers, but we’ve never seen the back of the device so thoroughly.
Xiaomi first filed this patent on March 1, 2019, which was officially filed on March 25. On August 8, the patent was fully updated and published. In particular, the patent also states that this Xioami design will expire on March 1, 2024. This suggests that the company plans to launch its first Foldable Smartphone very soon. Xiaomi could launch the final product on the market, either as Xiaomi Mi Flex or Dual Flex.
