Xiaomi may not have yet unveiled all its tricks up its sleeve, according to new rumors published by XDA. The well-known portal, in fact, has announced that Xiaomi could present a new top of the range – based on Snapdragon 845 and equipped with LCD 18: 9 with notch – initially sighted by the site last March, but made public only today.
The smartphone in question is codenamed Beryllium and seems to be part of a group of 4 terminals spotted in March by XDA through the analysis of a firmware obtained from the site. On that occasion, the code names of Mi MIX 2S ( Polaris ), Mi 8 ( dipper ) and Mi 8 Explorer Edition ( Ursa ) emerged, together with a fourth name – the aforementioned Beryllium – kept secret from XDA until today.
The portal has decided to unveil the existence of this additional smartphone since further evidence of its existence has emerged, such as the release of a Global Beta version of MIUI 10 (v8.7.6) dedicated to Beryllium, an obvious signal that the smartphone has not been shelved. The code analyzed in March revealed the presence of the SoC and the display mentioned above, as well as other key specifications that could have changed over time. In any case, these include a 4000 mAh battery, traditional fingerprint sensor, no memory expansion slot, dual camera with zoom, NFC, and Android 8.1 Oreo.
At the moment it seems that there are two different firmware for the device, one Chinese and one global, so it is likely that it is a smartphone for all major markets. XDA reports explicit references that strongly link Beryllium to India, spotted within the latest version of the MIUI camera app. These also provide some possible details on the model number of the smartphone, which appears to be E10. The same acronym recently appeared in the certification of the first device ( E10A ), part of the new POCOPHONE brand created by Xiaomi, so it is likely that the two terminals are actually the same smartphone.

At this point it is possible that POCOPHONE is a brand destined for the international market – or at least the Indian one – so we await further details and confirmations that can support or deny this hypothesis. Currently, this is all unofficial and there are no launch dates or even hints of a release of such a flagship from Xiaomi.
