When Xiaomi had launched the Redmi 5 on December 7 in China , it had launched the smartphone in models like 2 GB RAM + 16 GB storage and 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage. However, the official site has now a listing for 4 GB RAM version for the Redmi 5.
The specifications of the newly introduced 4 GB RAM edition of Redmi 5 are not different from its other models. On the official site, it is listed with a pricing of 1,099 Yuan ($173). The handset is available in colors like Black, Gold and Light Blue. The 2 GB RAM and 3 GB RAM models are respectively priced at 799 Yuan ($126) and 899 Yuan ($145). Instead of pricing the 4 GB RAM variant as 999 Yuan ($157), the company has chosen to sell it for 1,099 Yuan ($173).
The Redmi 5 is first Redmi series phone to feature a full screen design. It is packed with a 5.7-inch display that offers HD+ resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. The Snapdragon 450 chipset powers all the variant of the phone. For photography, it features 12-megapixel rear camera and a selfie snapper of 5-megapixel. It includes a 3,300mAh battery.
As of this writing, there is no confirmation whether the larger Redmi 5 Plus will be also available with 4 GB RAM option. However, it appears that it may also come in a higher RAM variant soon.
