The latest flagship phone of Xiaomi’s Poco brand, the Poco F5, will be released worldwide on May 9. However, the new phone series has been announced in advance on Xiaomi’s official website in UAE, including the specifications and appearance of the Poco F5 and Poco F5 Pro models. The only thing that has not been announced is the price. Probably won’t be revealed until tomorrow’s event.
The Poco F5 Pro is a high-end phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip and comes in three memory combinations. The device is essentially a rebranded version of Xiaomi’s Redmi K60 in China, but with Google services and a slightly reduced battery capacity, it counts as an entirely new device.
The Poco F5 Pro has a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with a WQHD+ resolution of 3200 x 1440 pixels and a pixel density of 526ppi, the highest of any Poco phone. The screen also supports a 120Hz refresh rate and a 480Hz touch sampling rate, a fingerprint reader underneath the screen, and is covered in Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
The three rear cameras are the 64 megapixel main camera with Omnivision OV64B sensor, f / 1.8 aperture and 6P lens. An 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with a 120-degree viewing Angle; A 2-megapixel macro camera. The camera supports optical and electronic anti-shake, an uncommon feature on Poco phones that makes it more appealing to camera users. The 16-megapixel front-facing camera sits in the center of the perforated screen and supports up to 1080p video recording.
The new phone features a 5,000-square-millimeter LiquidCool VC cooling system, a mixture of stainless steel vacuum chamber soaking plates and graphite layers, which improves thermal conductivity by 15 percent compared to previous Poco F series phones.
The Poco F5 Pro has a 5,160 mah battery, which is a bit lower than the 5,500 mah of the Redmi K60, but maintains 67W of wired fast charge and 30W of wireless fast charge. The operating system is MIUI 14 based on Android 13.
The Poco F5 Pro is available in the UAE in white and black, with a carbon fibre-like design element on the back cover and a choice of 8/256 GB, 12/256 GB or 12/512 GB of RAM and storage.
The Poco F5 is a mid-range phone that uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chip and has 256 GB of storage, with a choice of 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM. The Poco F5 still has a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with the same refresh rate as the F5 Pro, but only a 1080p resolution. The rear camera is also a 64-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel combo, but there’s no mention of the Omnivision sensor, suggesting the main camera may be a bit weaker than the Pro. However, the phone also retains optical and electronic anti-shake, as well as a 16-megapixel front-facing camera.
The phone is designed to be light and thin. Poco claims it weighs 181 grams and is 7.9 millimeters thick. The Poco F5 has a 5,000mah battery and supports a 67W fast charge. Other features include MIUI 14 based on Android 13, NFC, infrared emitter, NFC and Bluetooth 5.3. Those specs look familiar, since the phone is essentially the rebranded Redmi Note 12 Turbo.
According to Xiaomi UAE’s website, the phone is available in black, blue and white, with white being the main color and using “two-color gradient offset” technology to mimic Frost’s style.
Tomorrow’s global launch of the Poco F5 series will reveal more details and pricing information, which Igeekphone will be keeping an eye on.
