The Samsung launched its version in a clamshell design with the Galaxy Z Flip, and now it seems that Xiaomi plans to do the same. The LetsGoDigital and TigerMobiles revealed a new patent submitted by Xiaomi in November 2019 in Beijing. The 48 images included in this diploma show a folding phone with a clamshell-type design.
The real interest in these designs is focused on the camera unit. This device has a total of four camera notches on the front of the device and one on the back. In fact, this Module on which the cameras are mounted can be rotated by changing the layout.
Although this is an exciting idea, it is not entirely new. The Samsung Galaxy A80 uses a similar shooting system that rotates on its horizontal axis.
The images in this patent show the device having a flexible notch or Notch display. The phone folds inwards, protecting the screen as well as the Motorola Razr. However, there are no indications of a secondary screen and the chin with the rotating camera unit is at the top, making the phone look like an upside-down Razr.
LetsGoDigital sources claim that this Xiaomi model is scheduled to be released in the second half of 2020. If this patent is turned into a real device we will find out soon, we believe from the company itself.
