This week we showed that Xiaomi has decided to launch the update of MIUI 9.2 for the Redmi 1S that was released in the year 2014. This update comes after rumors indicate that the Chinese manufacturer began to pay attention and update their older devices. Thus, Redmi Note 2014 and Redmi 4A also began to be prepared to receive MIUI 9, while Redmi Note 3 jumped straight to MIUI 9.2. Now, according to reports from some users, Redmi 3S and 3S Prime have also officially started receiving MIUI 9.2 Global.
This latest MIUI update brings Interactive and Fresh UI changes, coupled with a new Calendar Cards, Gallery/ Vault/ Mi Video App, New Mi Explorer and Mi Drop. However, the users will not be able to enjoy features like New Notification Shade, Quick Switch, and Split Screen.
According to the first users to receive the update, MIUI 9.2 arrives under the MIUI 9.2.2.0.MALMIEK numbering and weighs about 376 MB. However, the interface will continue to run over Android 6.0 Marshmallow and the security patch will be kept in April 2017, somewhat lagging behind.
For now, Xiaomi is releasing the new software in the Stable Nightly cycle, that is, it is still a test compilation for stable global ROMs. These are thrown to random users before a full deployment, to minimize the impact of critical errors. Therefore, if there is no serious problem in this compilation, it is quite possible that Xiaomi will soon release MIUI 9.2 for all Redmi 3S owners.
The Xiaomi Redmi 3S comes with a 5-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Xiaomi Redmi 3S packs a 13MP rear camera with PDAF and LED flash and a 5MP wide-angle front-facing shooter for selfies.
The Redmi 3S Prime model comes with 3GB Ram and 32GB of permanent storage and the standard model comes with 2GB Ram and 16GB of internal storage. There’s also a microSD card slot that expands the phone’s storage up to 256GB. The phone has a fingerprint scanner for added security and it is equipped a 4,100mAh non-removable battery.
