Currently there are several big smartphone brands which have devoted into its own processor, so does Xiaomi, in February, Xiaomi has released its own first Pinecone Surgen S1 processor, and it is first used on Xiaomi MI5C, but whether we comment on this phone or processor, it has enjoyed so-so feedback. Right now Xiaomi has sped up its second processor development. According to a famous expert on Weibo, Surge S2 has taped out. It is said to use 16nm process, Octa core, produced by TSMC. And it can be produced mass in the third quarter.
The reason to use 16nm process instead of advanced 10nm is limited cost, after all it is not practical to spend high cost as a new processor, and it has similar position to Snapdragon 625. And previously Xiaomi has signed agreement with Nokia, the Nokia future phones may also use Pinecone surge processor.
And Xiaomi first processor, Surge 1 only used on Xiaomi MI5C, so Xiaomi Surge S2 should also use on Xiaomi MI6C this year, the processor is produced in the third quarter, and the phone should be released in the fourth quarter.
To be honest, Surge S1 doesn’t bring better feedback, we believe Surge S2 will have better performance, we will also be looking forward to Xiaomi MI6C.
