Since Android 7.0 Nougat OS officially released on May 18, many smartphone manufacturers are pursuing updating their own flagship to Android 7.0 OS, currently, only Huawei has released EMUI 5.0 OS based on Android 7.0 OS which becomes the first one to use Android 7.0 OS. However, Xiaomi has not responded officially about when they will release MIUI 8 or MIUI 9 based on Android 7.0. The day before yesterday, Xiaomi has opened the beta test about MIUI 8 based on Android 7.0 OS.
Although right now only Xiaomi MI5 smartphone supports Android 7.0 OS, namely, the other models will also support later. So will fans be happy? If other non-Xiaomi MI5 users want to experience Android 7.0 OS in advance, they can download CM ROM Nightly 14.1 at the official website of Cyanogenmod.
After downloading ROM, we highly recommended you flash the firmware with much experience. Last but not least, we introduce briefly about Android 7.0 Nougat new features.
Feature one: It can delete the original apps completely.
Feature two: OTA, no need to download, install, relaunch procedure, so will it be more convenient?
Feature three: Multi-tasking. Android 7.0 will support fast switch function. It allows double click ‘Recent’ button to switch the last used app. Meanwhile, it supports clearing all used apps.
Feature four: Bound Notification. Android 7.0 supports bounding notification from the same apps.
Feature five: New traffic saving mode. The OS will monitor your GPRS traffic.
Feature SIX: New VR support. Right now Xiaomi, Huawei both have its own VR community, so other manufacturer is also planning.
Today Xiaomi official has released the beta ROM, which includes TF card flash and USB cable flash. But it has been recalled soon after short releasing, because they found the problems about it. Right now only TF card firmware left. Due to beta test, so if you are interested in it, you can look for it in their official forum. But we have to let you know the beta version has existed some problems. So we don’t highly recommend the beta version.
