In addition to a pair of premium flagship smartphones, Xiaomi also introduced a new TV at today’s press conference. It is a premium Xiaomi Mi TV LUX, which offers an OLED screen and a very thin body with a thickness of only 5.7 mm.
Xiaomi Mi TV LUX comes to the market with the attribute OLED Transparent Edition. It is thus the first transparent television in series production in the world. This TV has a specific OLED display that displays the image on a transparent panel. Simply put, when the TV is turned off, it looks like an ordinary piece of the glass display.
The pinnacle of this technology is a top 55 ″ transparent OLED panel with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, which is only 5.7 mm thick. Like the previous model in the LUX series, this TV uses a panel from the LG Display workshop.
The TV is powered by a custom-made MediaTek 9650 chipset. It contains more than 20 optimization algorithms. In terms of software, the Chinese manufacturer offers a new version of MIUI 3.0 for televisions for its new intelligent model.
Other features of the new transparent TV from Xiaomi include Dolby Atmos technology, AOD (display always on), and around the base in which all internal devices and the necessary input or output ports are located.
The new Xiaomi Mi TV LUX OLED Transparent Edition will hit the Chinese market on August 16, 2020. The selling price in China starts at 49999 yuan (about $7198). The novelty thus becomes a direct competitor to the LG Transparent OLED Signage 55EW5F-A, which, however, has a price exceeding $25,000. In this case, we are dealing with a more affordable model, although the price from Xiaomi attacks $7,000, so it is necessary to perceive this affordability with caution.
