It has been over a year since the launch of the Mi Band 2 fitness tracker, but Xiaomi has not launched its successor model. Today, popular leakster Roland Quandt has revealed that the Mi Band 3 has received Bluetooth certification which is one of the prerequisites that it has to clear before launch. This suggests that the official announcement of the new fitness band is drawing near.
The belowsnapshot that reveals the Bluetooth certification of the new fitness tracker from Xiaomi does not reveal any details on its specs. The device is listed with its model number of XMSH05HM. It also reveals that it carries support for Bluetooth 4.2 LE (Low Energy). The company that is producing it is Anhui Huami Information Technology Co. Ltd (Huami).
Mi Band 2 users had faced issues with its OLED display and some reports had also claimed that its heart rate sensor did not work properly for dark-skinned individuals. The Mi Band 3 is expected to resolve these problems and carry usual features like pedometer and calorie counter. Some rumors have claimed that it may arrive with IP68 certification. As of this writing, the rumor mill is silent on the features that will be arriving on it.
Next week at the Mobile World Congress (MWC), Xiaomi will be debuting the rumored Mi MIX 2S smartphone. There is no information available on whether the company will be showcasing the Mi Band 3 at the launch event of Mi MIX 2S.
