Huawei P20 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 8 are the two flagship phones of 2018 and Huawei as the 3rd and Xiaomi is 4th mobile phone brands in the global market but in the domestic market, both are on the 1st and 2nd position. There are quite a few differences. So this time we are going to put face to face Xiaomi Mi 8 and the Huawei P20 Pro that are flagship Smartphone of both Chinese giants. So let’s see where the difference and the gaps are in them.
The Huawei P20 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 8 are feature a Notch designed and both Smartphones use the face recognition unlocking component in it, but the face recognition of these two flagships is completely different from the face recognition of the iPhone’s 3D optical structure. However, it is worth mentioning that the Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer version, which is not yet on the market, is equipped with this 3D optical structure face recognition module.
The power button and volume rockers of Huawei P20 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 8 are placed on the right side. This design is surprisingly consistent on these two Smartphones. Huawei P20 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 8 both use a glass body, but both phones are not equipped with a wireless charging module.
The SIM card slot is designed on the left side of Huawei P20 Pro and Mi 8, and the upper and lower sides of both phones are basically the same. The price difference is big between Huawei P20 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 8, that is 2699 yuan ($398) for Xiaomi Mi 8 and Huawei P20 Pro is 4500 yuan ($664).
Huawei P20 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 8 are made of aluminum alloy. At the top of both Smartphones are designed with noise reduction holes. However, Huawei P20 Pro has an infrared emission module, but Xiaomi Mi 8 not have. On the other hand, the Xiaomi 6X still retains the infrared recognition module. Do not underestimate the infrared identification module, this design is very practical.
Huawei P20 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 8 both canceled the 3.5mm headphone jack. The bottom of the phones is a symmetrical design of the speaker and microphone, and the USB-C interface is used in the middle. At present, this design belongs to the mainstream design of flagship handsets. Since the iPhone 7 canceled the 3.5mm headphone jack, this design has been followed by many mobile phone manufacturers.
In terms of the rear camera, the Huawei P20 Pro uses the three Leica -lens, in which the effective pixels of the main lens reach 41MP. The rear dual camera of Xiaomi Mi 8 is still the hardware specification of the Mi Mix 2S with 12MP + 12MP. However, after the software optimization, the camera ability of Xiaomi Mi 8 has indeed improved, and the ranking on the DxO ranking has also increased, but Compared with the 109 points of Huawei P20 Pro, it is still inferior. After all, powerful shooting is the main feature of Huawei P20 Pro.
In terms of hardware configuration, the Huawei P20 Pro uses the Kirin 970 processor and the Xiaomi Mi 8 has an SD 845 processor. Huawei P20 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 8 do have a gap in hardware, but the overall performance gap is not very obvious. In the same experience of playing the game of “Jesus Survival”, the difference is actually not big, but the speed of the software and games at the same time on the SD 845 processor does have certain advantages, but after the Huawei P20 Pro update GPU Turbo results it is hard to say.
Finally, with the night photo samples comparisons, the overall color of the Huawei P20 Pro sample is more vivid, and the bright distinction is more obvious. The focus of the Mi 8 is the distant view, although it is also very clear, the overall exposure is higher than the P20 Pro, but the color is not as bright as it. The overall effect of Huawei P20 Pro is slightly better than that of Xiaomi Mi 8.
