After a past of updates arrived very late or even never arrived, it seems that Xiaomi has decided to completely change the register, at least with regard to its latest top of the range.
After Xiaomi Mi 8 and Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S in fact, even Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition receive the update to Android 9 Pie, in the MIUI 10 China Developer version 8.9.20, which we obviously tried on our sample. Among the main news, we find the native adaptation to the notch, officially supported by the latest version of the green robot and the settings related to notifications, although unfortunately the problem of missing notification icons in the status bar has not been solved.
There is no lack of optimizations under the hood that make it even more efficient, under all points of view, a system that was already very high performance. The update also prevents background applications from accessing the microphone, camera, and other sensors.
Other new features include support for HDR videos on YouTube and Play Movies and a fix that solves a problem in unlocking with Bluetooth devices. The update can weigh up to 2GB, depending on the updates previously installed.
