Xiaomi is rumored to be released the Mi 12 as a smartphone flagship successor Xiaomi Mi 11. As a candidate for the latest phones, I wonder if Xiaomi Mi 12 will bring a number of improvements from its predecessor. One rumor, for example, states that this phone will be equipped with three back cameras with a resolution of 50MP. The rumor was revealed by a leaker from China, Digital Chat Station.
According to Digital Chat Station, Xiaomi Mi 12 is believed to have a back camera configuration consisting of a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP telephoto camera. Typically, multi-camera configurations in phones have different sensors and resolutions for each. The best and highest resolution sensors are generally embedded only in the main camera.
It’s not clear if the three 50MP cameras on the Mi 12 will have the same sensor, or if the resolution numbers are identical. Previously, the Smartphone, which no longer carried the “Mi” branding, was rumored to be using a camera with a 200MP sensor made by Samsung. Even if properly used, the sensor with very high resolution is likely only used in the Mi 12 Ultra model.
Xiaomi Mi 12 itself is not the first phone to be equipped with three high-resolution cameras. ZTE has previously released the Axon 30 Ultra which has a 64MP main camera, a 64MP ultra-wide camera, and a 64MP telephoto camera. According to information from GSM Arena, Friday (3/9/2021), in addition to the 50MP sensor, the Xiaomi Mi 12 telephoto camera will use a lens with an optical zoom level of 5x, with digital magnification up to 10x.
Outside of the camera, the Xiaomi Mi 12 will reportedly also be equipped with an LTPO AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and LPDDR5X RAM, and a Snapdragon 898 chip. There are no details on this yet, but Qualcomm is expected to reveal more information before the device’s official release. Companies have been working in partnership for a long time, so the information is not a surprise.
