Yeelight, a subsidiary of Xiaomi, very active in the domotics and smart home accessories sector, recently presented its first voice assistant developed together with the Chinese brand. Yeelight Voice Assistant, as the name suggests, is an intelligent speaker with a voice assistant, very similar in size and shape to the Amazon model, Echo Dot.
Yeelight Voice Assistant is in fact equipped with four buttons at the top: a start button, one dedicated to turning the microphone on and off and the last two reserved for volume management, just like on Echo Dot.
An additional center button can also be used to put the speaker in silent mode. On board, there should be Microsoft’s voice assistant, Cortana since Xiaomi has partnered with Microsoft during the past year.
The hardware equipment continues with six noise-canceling microphones (AEC) ready to pick up the user’s commands, a single 2-Watt loudspeaker and a very advanced speech activation algorithm, able to turn the device on within a radius of 5 meters.
The Yeelight Voice Assistant is driven by a 64-bit Cortex A53 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz and is coupled with 256MB RAM and 256MB of flash storage. In terms of connectivity, the device offers 2.4GHz and 5GHz dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 and can also be used to manage other Xiaomi smart products belonging to the Yeelight brand, such as smart LED lamps, table lamps, bedside lamps, ceiling lights, etc.

The Xiaomi Yeelight Voice Assistant that is currently included in the company crowdsourcing platform at a price of 199 Yuan, about $30.45 at the exchange rate. The company plans to ship the first units starting from January 31 in China.
