While the world waited for Samsung to present its slim smartphone, the co-founder of Chinese company Xiaomi Lin Bin introduced their version of this device class just over a month before the South Korean corporation.
Since then, Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X have appeared. A new video from Weibo’s social network suggests that Xiaomi could join them soon. It shows the folding mechanism, which is clearly different from the competition. With Samsung Galaxy Fold, the device works in the middle, the big screen is inside and you use a second display on the outside.
On the other hand, the Huawei Mate X is also folded in the middle, but here the screen is outside. The Xiaomi Mi Fold, on the other hand, can be folded in on both sides. The display is also outside, but the two ends are folded back.
The Xiaomi concept offers the probably largest front screen if one uses the device folded. For the back is probably than not usable. In the video is not visible, if you can use the smartphone in each folding stage, so even with only one unfolded display wing.
Incidentally, the folding phone from China should come on the market in summer. And at a price that is well below that of the competition. The Xiaomi Mi Fold is only about $1000 cost. That of Samsung costs $2050, that of Huawei just under $2500.
As for the other technical features of Xiaomi Mi Fold, the device should boast a Snapdragon 855 octa-core processor operating at the maximum frequency of 2.84 GHz (2 x 2.84 GHz + 2 x 2.42 GHz + 4 x 1.8 GHz), supported by an Adreno 640 GPU and 10GB of RAM.
