Xiaomi’s Global VP and Managing Director for India Manu Kumar Jain has officially declared through a tweet the list of Xiaomi phones in India that will be receiving the MIUI 9 global stable ROM. What’s interesting about the tweet is that the MIUI 9 has been confirmed even for smartphones like Redmi 1S and Mi 3 that are four-year old devices.
Here is the list of Xiaomi smartphones in India that are eligible to receive the MIUI 9 global stable update: Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi 4A, Redmi Note Prime, Mi 4i, Redmi 3S, Redmi 3S Prime, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi 1S, Redmi Note 3, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi Max, Mi Max Prime, Redmi Y1, Redmi Y1 Lite, Redmi 4, Mi 5, Mi MIX 2, Mi Max 2, and Redmi Note 4.
One should be aware of the fact that the rollout of the MIUI 9 Global ROM had started in November 2017 after it was made official in July. However, it is only now that the Chinese manufacturer has given out an official confirmation on the devices that are eligible to get updated to MIUI 9 in India.
The MIUI 9 update is now available as OTA update. It means users of the aforementioned phones who have not installed the MIUI 9 update will soon see a notification on the arrival of the update. Alternatively, users can manually check for the availability of the update by going to Settings > About Phone > System update. Xiaomi phone users are advisable to perform a data backup for updating to MIUI 9.
