A few days ago, xiaomiui found a device with the model number CB0401 in the IMEI database. This new router will have the commercial name of Xiaomi 5G CPE Pro, and it was reported that this would be the first 5G CPE device for Xiaomi.
As you can see in the image, this database does not give much more information about it apart from its existence, but knowing Xiaomi it is clear that we can expect a 5G router with great connectivity, support for WiFi 6, and an elegant design very much in line with the rest of the brand’s products.
This record is not indicative that the Xiaomi 5G CPE Pro is going to hit the market in the near future, since it is quite likely that it is still in the development or testing phase.
The so-called 5G CPE is actually a portable Wi-Fi or mobile router. In addition to being a wireless router used to access wired broadband, it can also receive 5G signals and broadcast them as Wi-Fi, so that more devices can access the Internet wirelessly.
It is understood that the current high-end routers on the market are generally equipped with color displays, built-in lithium batteries, and USB-C for charging and data transmission. However, compared to common routes, CPE devices are often expensive due to the built-in 5G baseband and antenna modules.
In addition, we have expected Xiaomi to release more routers to rival brands such as Huawei and more, and this router is proof that they’re currently on the way of taking on the industry giants. With the success of the Xiaomi Router 4C and the Redmi Router 4A, we have no doubt that the upcoming Xiaomi 5G CPE Pro will be a success for Xiaomi in this department.
