Xiaomi 12S series was officially launched this week, including Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro, and 12S Ultra smartphones. At the end of the year, the presentation of the new flagship Xiaomi 13 line is expected, new details of which were announced by the Digital Chat Station insulator.
Today’s source mentions that Xiaomi’s upcoming high-end product line will use the SM8550 chip (Snapdragon 8 Gen 2). The report also adds that the Xiaomi 13 series will not be the only Xiaomi product to use the flagship chip from Qualcomm.
He also revealed that the main K series of the Redmi brand is also testing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. This flagship product adopts a leading dual-platform strategy, and its top-end version will equip a 2K display.
Earlier reports said that the Xiaomi 13 series will come with an ultra-narrow curved screen with 2K resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. It is also said that this product line will launch in November. This means that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip will be introduced in November and make Xiaomi 13 the first product line to come with this high-end chip.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is the successor to Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Unlike its predecessor using Samsung’s process, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will use TSMC’s 4nm process, which will be released in the fourth quarter of this year. MediaTek also released the Dimensity 9000/8000 chip using TSMC’s 4nm process. These chips will compete for smartphone brands next year.
