Insurance is something we seem to be offered as a matter of course when purchasing a tech product. You may be someone who automatically says no to an extra cost such as this, but with smartphones – and particularly iPhones – you should think again. They’re not just expensive items, but much-loved ones too. They play our music, tell us how to get somewhere, keep us in touch with friends and family, and are a valuable part of our lives in literally hundreds of other ways too. We don’t want harm to come their way and, if it does, we want to be able to fix it without breaking the bank.
What does iPhone insurance cover?
iPhone insurance is more tailored than that for a normal smartphone because it covers products and services specifically related to Apple. Among the key areas covered include losing your iPhone, having it stolen, getting it damaged (either by accident or if someone damages it on purpose), the screen cracking, or if there’s a fault that happens after the warranty period.
Protect from damage
Are you the sort of person who frequently drops their phone on the floor? If your phone gets damaged then you’ll have to pay for this yourself unless you’re insured. And with an iPhone, that can become a very expensive matter. Even something as simple as a screen repair could cost more than £300, while replacing a battery is likely to cost £70.
The most common claims are for damage to the screen, theft and loss, and damaging the phone with liquid. If you’re at the clumsier end of the scale, or even if you think it’s likely you might damage your phone, a small additional monthly cost might be far less frightening than the large sums associated with getting your iPhone fixed.
Protect against theft
It’s a sad truth that the more you spend on a top-end iPhone, the more you’ll attract thieves and the higher the likelihood of it getting stolen. If this were to happen, could you afford to replace your device from your own pocket? Again, a monthly insurance fee might seem like pittance compared to the eye-watering price of buying a new phone, especially as a good policy will reimburse you for any charges incurred while your phone was stolen. It would also make you feel more at ease – more comfortable about taking it out in public and less paranoid about losing it.
Getting insurance might be something you think only applies to your home, car and holidays. But iPhones are also a huge expense that become a massive part of our everyday lives. And whereas you might be able to afford one, can you honestly afford to get it repaired or even replaced should the worst happen? Insuring your device will enable you to enjoy it worry-free,
