The next generation of smartphones are here with Apple releasing their latest flagship iPhones and the newest Samsung expected to arrive in the near future sometime early in 2022 – with all of the rumours swirling around what could be expected from the newest devices with some suggestion seemingly plausible, it opens questions for what may be expected from offerings heading into the future – whether these may be features that users are expecting with changing expectations for features that come from multimedia streaming and sharing, the growth of different online gaming platforms with a big shift towards online options as more information about online betting in Australia and other countries is emerging with other big gaming options, the emergence of online streaming as a temporary replacement for the box office, or even something that may simply be changing in the design of the latest devices.
Smaller displays look to be more common – Where the iPhones have typically relied on the smaller form factor and only offering the plus sizes models in recent years, if rumours are to be believed the newest Samsung flagships will also have a much smaller display size looking to fall by 1 to 2 inches depending on the model. Given the desire for many users to move away from the oversized “phablet” phones in recent years, this may fall more in line with the users desires and be something that looks to stick around as the mid-five-inch space seems to be the most comfortable for usage.
A step back from connectable hardware – In an effort to be more environmental, manufacturers have taken a step back from including certain hardware in their boxes as earbuds, plugs, and additional cabling have been removed for the past year or two, but these efforts will look to continue for other connectable hardware with the continued removal of headphone jack slots and expandable memory. If the display size is going in favour of user preference, this change certainly isn’t with many complaints over the years about the lack of options for those looking to connect hardware like wired headphones to their device.

Fast charging looks to remain too – Other rumours suggested Samsung were exploring faster charging options once again, and something that the newest iPhones may look to do too, although 45W charging may not come just yet. For those who have experienced it and are able to charge their device from empty to full in under an hour, it’s something that won’t be left behind easy when considering a new device, and a very desirable feature by itself – so expect faster charging to become a big focus for future releases too.
With most users holding on to their older devices for a longer period of time, there needs to be something very compelling to get many to make the upgrade and some of these newer devices may just have those features but holding off for just a little longer could provide the valuable upgrades desired well into the future.
