The world’s first dedicated AI wearable device, Ai Pin, has finally begun to be delivered.
It was designed by a former Apple designer, and it caused a sensation when it was not listed. Before the AI wave in 2023, only with a single product, Humane, a research and development company, got an investment of $240 million in the industry, and the capital injection party was OpenAI, Microsoft, Qualcomm and other technology giants. It was selected as Time’s “2023 Invention of the Year” and was once considered by Silicon Valley to be a “revolutionary product that could disrupt the smartphone.”
When the Ai Pin was launched, we saw in the promotional video the combination of hardware and software, the interaction of voice control and projection, the integration of reality and large language models, and most importantly: it does not need to rely on a mobile phone as a hub. It’s like the hardware incarnation of ChatGPT, relying on AI to disrupt our phone-addicted world.
With the first batch of Ai Pins starting to ship in mid-April, the first wave of media reviews was also lifted, and compared to the amazing experience in marketing, promotional videos and demonstrations that took five years, the actual display experience can only be said to be surprising.
From attention to bad reviews, what kind of product is Ai Pin?
01, Humane and Ai Pin
The Ai Pin, from Humane, is the company’s only product. Perhaps because we have enough digital devices extending from our hands, eyes, wrists and ears, Humane has placed the Ai Pin on our chest.
As the name of the product, Ai Pin is a square device as big as a brooch and pinned to the chest. Ai Pin does not have a screen, but relies on the integration of voice commands, touching the panel, making gestures across the space, and projecting into the palm for display.
