In the early 1900s, the game of game swept across western culture and a century later, we still play it. There are so many ways to enjoy game: online, in bingo halls, as part of a charity event or alternative styles such as disco bingo; it’s obvious that it’s had a large impact on our leisure time. There are lots of opportunities to play bingo online. Many people head to online game to enjoy the game and you can check out some here.
A world record is something to be proud of. Many people work long and hard hours, even years to achieve such a feat; other times world records seemingly fall into place; and sometimes, it’s just a random idea that popped into someone’s head. We’ve compiled a list of all the best game themed world records, combining the iconic leisure game with an internationally recognised achievement.
Largest Game of game– Online and Offline
One of the most popular world records associated with game to attempt is the ‘largest game’. Due to bingo being available both online and offline, there are two separate world records.
The ‘offline largest game’ took place in Bogota, Colombia. To try and reverse the decline of game hall attendances, retailer Almacenses Exito, announced their intentions to break a world record, by playing a game of bingo outside. A whopping 70,080 people attended the event where participants played for prizes amounting to $250,000! To put it into perspective, if you put all of the participants into the 1990 FIFA World Cup venue, Stadio Olimpico, you’d be able to fill it! The current record was achieved in 2006, and since then, no event has managed to attract a crowd of that size.
The online record, as you can imagine, saw far more participants than 70,080. In 2010, the beverage giant, Coca-Cola decided to host the largest online game in Japan. In total, 493,824 people joined the online game, which was organised by Coca-Cola Park.
Largest game balls and game card
Earlier this year a new record was set in this category. Most people know that in America, everything is bigger and better – mainly the size of chip portions – and this record is no different. At the Gila River Hotel & game – Lone Butte in Chandler, Arizona a game card measuring 400 square feet was played on using game balls that stood at 4 feet tall. The game was celebrating its 25th anniversary and invited over 200 people to the event to play a giant game of game.
World’s Highest Game of game
An achievement in itself would be to climb up to Mount Everest’s base camp – but when 24 Gala Coral employees did it, they managed to claim a world record at the same time. At a soaring altitude of 17,500 feet above sea level, this small group of people sat down to play a few games and by coincidence set the record for the highest altitude game of game played. Due to the enormous scale of Mount Everest, we’re pretty sure nobody is going to be breaking this record any time soon.
