As part of its e-cigarette recycling program services to retailers, Biffa will offer the following services:
Provide different capacity of brand display containers;
Collect used e-cigarettes at least once a quarter and more frequently if needed to meet the requirements of the NWFD4;
Inform the retailer to prepare the documentation prior to collection;
Provide collection schedules, completion status and any wasted trip reports via myBiffa;
National prices are available fixed according to package size or can be used as an additional option to existing Biffa small WEEE recycling services.
Biffa also offers e-cigarette recycling bins at dozens of other locations across the UK, including airports, motorway service areas, NHS premises, universities and colleges, railway stations, distribution centres, shopping centres and office premises.
Biffa takes these e-cigarettes to an authorized processing facility where they are disassembled, separating out components such as batteries, housings, and electronic components for individual processing. Up to 80% of e-cigarette devices can be recycled.
Daniel Barrett, representative of Biffa, said:
“Disposing of single-use e-cigarettes through trusted, authorized devices is critical. Too many e-cigarettes end up in landfills or incinerated, preventing the recycling of intact materials like lithium and plastics.
Biffa is a waste recycling company based in High Wycombe, UK. It provides collection, landfill, recycling and special waste services to local authorities and industrial and commercial customers in the UK. As of 2017, it is the second largest waste recycling company in the UK
