If you’re looking to get a new Lenovo laptop, you might be happy to know that the Chinese company today officially unveiled a new Lenovo ThinkPad T580 laptop, designed primarily for consumers who want a very powerful and more sustainable laptop. The ThinkPad T580 is equipped with the latest Intel processors, supported by the optional Nvidia graphics chip and quite a lot of memory. The company focuses on the appearance and comfort of use known for the series.
In terms of construction, the ThinkPad T580 is very similar to the ThinkPad P52s presented some time ago. We get exactly the same set of connectors, the same full-size keyboard with a numeric block, the same configuration of data carriers and an identical screen. The ThinkPad T580 will support Intel 8th-gen Core i7 processors with vPro. It will also support as much as 32GB of 2400MHz DDR4 RAM, up to 2TB of HDD storage or if you’re after something a bit faster, 1TB of PCIe SSD storage. The laptop will also come with an Intel HD Graphics 620 integrated GPU, but if you want a bit more power then you can always opt to configure it to an NVIDIA GeForce MX150 with 2GB of DDR5 VRAM.
As for weight and dimensions, the new notebook starts at 1.97 kilograms and retains its 20 mm (0.78”) thickness. According to Lenovo, it will also boast a battery life, the ThinkPad T580 includes a built-in 4-cell 32 Wh front battery as well as a 3-cell 24 Wh removable battery on the rear. The latter can be swapped for a 6-cell 48 Wh or a cylindrical 6-cell 72 Wh battery. Once equipped with the most important battery, the T580 laptop can last for up to 27 hours on one charge. The laptop will also sport a 15-inch FHD IPS display, but users can configure it to sport an FHD IPS touchscreen display, or go even higher with a UHD IPS display.
Connectivity options of the ThinkPad T580 are exactly the same as in the case of the P52s. The laptop has 2 USB 3.0 Type-A ports, a USB 3.0 Type-C header, a Thunderbolt 3, an HDMI 1.4 output, a GbE, a TRRS audio jack for headsets as well as an optional card reader, wireless capabilities include a 2T/2R 802.11ac Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.2 controller, whereas beefy models may be armed with a global LTE-A modem. Basic models are equipped with a 720p camera with a mechanical shutter, whereas advanced SKUs come with an IR camera supporting Windows hello as well as a fingerprint reader.
