The Isle of Man e-Cigarette Products Act will come into force on May 27, meaning the sale and supply of e-cigarette products to people under the age of 18 will be banned.
New advertising restrictions and display regulations will also be implemented from September, meaning that the public display of e-cigarette products will no longer be allowed in retail outlets accessible to people under 18.
Cabinet Office minister Kate Lord-Brennan said,
“To be able to bring this bill into effect with royal assent is very positive and is an important step forward for the health of young people now and in the future.”
In addition, the bill states that anyone who sells e-cigarette products to anyone under the age of 18 could face a fine of £5,000. For those between the ages of 16 and 18, importing e-cigarette products would constitute an offence punishable by a fine of up to £500.
