Is it any good? Well, I sought to find out in my review of the Teclast P40HD. I had good first impressions. The Teclast P40HD exhibited good build quality out of the box, proving sturdy with protective shipping film on the front and back. It comes with a second layer of tempered screen protector, which I kept on for most of the review, despite a slight impact on touchscreen responsiveness. Ultimately, it felt best without any screen protector at all.
Powering the Teclast P40HD is the octa-core Unisoc T606 processor, yielding a Geekbench 6 benchmark score of 375 in single-core and 1385 in multi-core when running Android 13. This makes it easy to determine the tablet’s speed. The chipset also houses the Mali-G57 GPU.
The real value lies in the 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM, expandable by an additional 8GB of virtual RAM. This budget-friendly tablet is ideal for RAM-intensive tasks, with customizable virtual RAM settings in the system.
The tablet features 128GB of UFS storage, supporting microSD cards up to 1TB. While suitable for normal free games on Google Play, serious gamers may desire a faster processor.
The 10.1-inch LCD screen could use more brightness, considering it’s a budget tablet. The 1920 x 1200 Full HD display resolution lacked some sharpness during browsing but performed well for gaming and movie watching.
Although not designed to support digitizer pens, the Teclast P40HD surprisingly picked up strokes with a latency of 15 to 25ms, suitable for basic tasks like highlighting paragraphs in PDF files.
The stereo speakers, located underneath the tablet in landscape mode, provide above-average sound in this price range. A 3.5mm audio jack on top allows for external audio options.
The rear camera boasts a 13MP camera with LED flash, supporting 1080p FHD video recording. The front 5MP camera features facial recognition for quick tablet unlocking.
While the rear camera can overexpose photos, especially in different lighting conditions, using alternative camera apps can improve photo quality. The tablet comes with built-in 4G LTE, with band support varying by region. Additionally, it includes Bluetooth 5.0 for quick pairing and dual-band Wi-Fi.
With various tablet sensors, including accelerometer, step detector, step counter, ambient light sensor, GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo navigation sensors, the Teclast P40HD provides a comprehensive set of features for its price.
Battery life, tested at 80% brightness while running videos lasts around 8 hours. Charging from 1% to 100% takes less than 3 hours with the included 10W USB-C charger.
In terms of design, the Teclast P40HD places the power button and volume rockers on the left side in landscape mode. The SIM tray, microSD card slot, and audio combo jack are located on top, showcasing a logical layout. The tablet measures 8.4mm in thickness and weighs 514 grams, offering a touch and feel on the premium side.
In conclusion, the Teclast P40HD Tablet has its pros and cons. While not perfect, especially for flagship standards, it comes at an affordable price with surprisingly good specifications. Right now it is in flash sale at $139.99 from banggood.
