On July 19, Microsoft said in a document submitted at the FTC hearing that IT expects SONY to release the PlayStation 5 Slim later this year at the same price as the PS5 digital version, which is $399.99 (currently about 2872 yuan).
According to Shpeshal Nick, co-founder of gaming blog XboxEra, SONY PlayStation is likely to hold a PlayStation Show in August and plans to unveil the PS5 Slim at the show.
In addition to this, Colin Moriarty sources also pointed out that SONY will hold a new PlayStation Showcase later this year, and PlayStation China game production director Mr. Bao also said that there will be another “showcase” event later this year.
According to previous rumors, this PS5 Slim is likely to be the same version of the PS5 that is rumored to have a detachable optical drive. @Tom Henderson has said that SONY is working on a minor revamp of the PS5, and the new PS5 is expected to launch around September 2023. The new console will offer a detachable optical drive that connects to the console via an additional USB-C port on the back of the console, which the existing digital PS5 does not appear to be compatible with.
Earlier, it was revealed that SONY’s Playstation 5 will get a smaller redesigned version this year, but it may not be called the PS5 Slim. Its appearance has undergone a major change, with the new “ultra-thin” version downsizing the game console mold, using less voltage and therefore running cooler and lighter.
In addition, for SONY’s upcoming Project Q streaming console, Microsoft predicts that its price will be less than $300 (Igeekphone note: current about 2178 yuan).
