The Japanese company Docomo announced plans to introduce new models on the market this summer. In this list was a compact middling – Sony Xperia Ace. it is one of the very few compact smartphones left, which despite this strength does not go to excessively sacrificing performance, much like the Xperia Z compact range does.
The dimensions are 140 x 67 x 9.3 mm and the weight is 154 grams: this last dimension makes it look like a small brick, but for sure it will be extremely manageable. Color solutions are three: black, white and purple.
Enclosed in these dimensions we find a 5-inch Full HD + screen with an aspect ratio of 18: 9 and LCD Triluminous technology, animated by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable microSD storage space.
On the front, we find an 8MP sensor with unknown characteristics, while on the back we find a 12MP Exmor R with f / 1.8 aperture and 1.25 μm wide pixels stabilized hybridally with OIS + EIS. On this side, there is no trace of the fingerprint reader, which in fact is located on the side, integrated into the power button. The battery is a 2700mAh cell that supports fast charging.
Connectivity is complete thanks to the presence of a dual SIM slot, Bluetooth 5 LE, GPS, Glonass, Wifi 802.11 ac, and 4G VoLTE: fortunately, the only port is a USB type C.
Finally, we find a gem that is often absent also in phones of a decidedly higher range: the IP65 / IP68 water and dust resistance certification. The price of Sony Xperia Acei s48600 yen, or about $444 and it will go on sale in Japan starting from June 1st.
