Sony held a press conference in China on the launch of the new flagship smartphone Sony Xperia 1, which is the first smartphone in the world with a 6.5-inch 4K OLED display from CinemaWide 21: 9 and a built-in Eye AF function. The camera has three lenses with quick-release (up to 10 fps) and AF / AE tracking.
The Xperia 1 screen has the same ratio as panoramic cinematic images, 21: 9, and has technologies for faithful color reproduction. In addition, the X1 mobile processor is based on Sony’s Bravia TV technologies and allows HDR (High Dynamic Range) remastering to give the reproduced images greater contrast, color precision and sharpness to non-HDR and streaming content.
The visual experience is further enhanced by compatibility with the Dolby Atmos format, developed in collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment, and the 360 Reality Audio by Sony for three-dimensional audio.
For gaming enthusiasts, Xperia 1 incorporates Game Enhancer technology, which optimizes performance and blocks unwanted notifications. In addition, it allows the recording of games and offers tips for online gaming.
The triple 12MP camera guarantees professional results in every shot and even in critical light conditions. It has a 16mm wide-angle lens, a comfortable 26mm normal wide-angle lens, and a 52mm telephoto lens. The focal length is equal to f1.6 and the Dual Photodiode image sensor has a 1.4 μm pixel pitch and is able to keep moving subjects in focus. Noise reduction in RAW images is also available. The front camera is 8MP with electronic stabilization.
Xperia 1 exploits the technologies inherited from the prestigious Alpha cameras with interchangeable lenses: for the first time, thanks to the BIONZ X processor for mobile devices, it has been possible to equip a smartphone with the Eye AF (Autofocus) function and continuous shooting up to 10 fps with AF / AE tracking (Autofocus and Auto Exposure) to ensure precise focus and optimal exposure.
Thanks to compatibility with the Sony Imaging Edge app, you can transfer photos and videos from your camera to Xperia 1 without interrupting the shooting, to check the quality or immediately upload the images to social media. Imaging Edge also supports the transfer of 4K movies.
This smartphone allows you to choose from eight “Looks” of preset colors to best express the desired mood, while the algorithm of the Optical SteadyShot hybrid stabilization system offers smooth and stable recordings.
Already tomorrow, preliminary sales will start in the country, the Sony Xperia 1 is available in the colors Fog Gray, Night Black, Snow White, and Purple, and its price is $910. In the European region, the smartphone is available on pre-order at a price of about $1100, but for this money, the pre-order will also receive a WH-1000XM3 wireless headset worth about $ 350.
