Recently, Qualcomm accidentally leaked some information about its next-generation chip during the Snapdragon 888 Plus event, which revealed that the next-generation flagship chip will be released by the end of the year.
There was a lot of speculation that snapdragon 888’s successor would be named Snapdragon 895, following the previous naming rule, but the latest news suggests that the chip will likely be named “Snapdragon 898”, following 888’s features.
Meanwhile, @iiceuniverse also revealed that the Snapdragon 898 will have a 3.09ghz X2 supercore, which will bring top performance, echoing previous rumors.
According to previous news, snapdragon 898 will use 1+3+2+2 four cluster architecture, Kryo 780 large core based on Cortex-X2, Kryo 780 large core based on Cortex-710, Kryo 780 energy efficiency large core based on Cortex-510 (high frequency), the Kryo 780 energy efficient minicore is based on the Cortex-A510 (low frequency).
The Cortex-X2 /A710/A510 are all ARM’s latest public designs based on the 64-bit V9 instruction set, replacing the X1/A78/A55, respectively.
According to GeekBench 5 data previously exposed, the single-core running score of Snapdragon 898 is about 1250 and multi-core running score is about 4000. Compared with Snapdragon 888, The running score of Antutu may break through millions for the first time.
It is worth mentioning that the technology of snapdragon 898 will also be upgraded. Although it is not the legendary 3nm process, it will be made by Samsung 4nm process. The overall power consumption and calorific value will be reduced to a certain extent, and the reputation of Snapdragon 888 will be reversed.
