Qualcomm and MediaTek will soon unveil their top-end Snapdragon 898 and Dimensity 2000 chipsets, which will form the basis of the vast majority of flagship smartphones in 2022. The informant of Digital Chat Station decided to replenish the collection of knowledge about new products: in a new publication, he spoke about the operating frequencies of the cores of the prototypes being tested now.
So, the Snapdragon 898 chipset, implemented on the 4-nm process technology Samsung, reaches 3.0 GHz on the main Cortex-X2 core, 2.5 GHz on the three high-performance Cortex-710, and 1.79 GHz on the energy-efficient quartet Cortex-510.
At the same time, the Dimensity 2000, manufactured using TSMC’s 4nm process technology and built on the same set of cores, offers the same 3.0 GHz on the Cortex-X2, but with higher frequencies for the Cortex-710 (2.85 GHz) and Cortex- 510 (1.8 GHz).
Moreover, instead of the GPU Mali-G79 mentioned in early rumors, the source attributes the Mali-G710 MC10 video core to the new product. Of course, these figures are not final and manufacturers may well revise the frequencies before the official release.
MediaTek is currently working with a number of manufacturers, and it is expected that the mass production of the chipset will start in 1Q22, and a bunch of products (powered by this chipset) will be launched.
