Developer and trusted source Kuba Wojciechowski shared information about Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor in a series of tweets today.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor model is “SM8650” and its internal code name is “Lanai” or “Pineapple”.
The processor uses a 2+3+2+1 architecture. No specific clock frequency information is yet available. The IT House comes with the following core configurations:
2 Arm “silver” cores codenamed “Hayes” (A5xx)
Three Arm “gold” cores code-named “Hunter” (A7xx)
Two Arm “titanium” cores code-named “Hunter” (A7xx)
1 Arm “gold+” core code-named “Hunter ELP” (Xn)
The chipset does not support 32-bit Android apps and games due to the lack of associated CPU cores, meaning all developers will have to update their apps to the 64-bit architecture.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is also reportedly powered by the 770MHz Adreno 750 GPU (Adreno Gen 7.9.0), although the clock rate may be even higher once it’s shipped to the flagship.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 supports Android 14 and Linux Kernel 6.1 and is mass-produced using Taiwan Semiconductor’s improved 4nm process or Samsung’s 3nm process.
