Snapdragon 670 is speculated to debut as a successor of Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset that powered some of the upper mid-range smartphones last year. Plenty of details of Snapdragon 670 have surfaced since the past few months. It has also appeared on Geekbench benchmarking platform .Earlier today, well-known leakster Roland Quandt has revealed what appears to be actual information of the upcoming chipset.
The Snapdragon 670 chipset is an octa-core chipset that includes dual-core customized Cortex A75 dubbed as Kryo 300 Gold and hexa-core customized Cortex A55 called Kryo 300 Silver. The low-end cores clock at 1.7 GHz whereas the high-end cores work at 2.6 GHz. Qualcomm has included Adreno 615 graphics inside the chipset.
It carries support for both UFS 2.1 and eMMC 5.1 flash storage. It also comprises of Snapdragon X2x LTE modem that is capable of reaching max download speeds of 1 Gbps.
The Snapdragon 670 driven smartphones can support dual high resolution cameras. According to Quandt, the reference hardware features 13-megapixel and 23-megapixel sensors in the dual camera setup. The SoC can also support up to WQHD resolution
There is no confirmation on when Qualcomm will be launching the Snapdragon 670 chipset. There is a possibility that the U.S.-based chip maker may use the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 platform to announce the new chipset. Various brands like Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo, and so on have used the Snapdragon 660 in their smartphones. Hence, these brands are expected to launch successor smartphones powered by Snapdragon 670.
