Today, Sharp shows the new Aquos zero smartphone, the first device in the house with an OLED display. Although the commercialization is scheduled only for Japan, at least for now, the “debut” of the company in the OLED market is undoubtedly interesting.
Sharp is one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of LCD displays (Apple is, for example, one of its main customers) and its entry into the “OLED world” can not but please. The new smartphone is, in fact, the first with a “homemade” OLED display.
Sharp Aquos zero is a high-end smartphone and can count on a 6.2-inch WQHD + high-contrast 19.5: 9 OLED display (resolution of 2992 x 1440 pixels) with support for Dolby Vision HDR technology. The SoC is the top of the range of Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 845 octa-core, accompanied by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory (not expandable).
It has a stereo speaker with support for Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio, but there is no 3.5 mm headphone jack (USB Type-C with adapter only). The rear camera is single, 22.6MP, with aperture f /1.9 and OIS, while the front one is 8MP. There is no lack of IP68 certification against water and dust, rear impression sensor and release by facial recognition.
According to the manufacturer, Sharp Aquos zero can count on a system of heat dissipation thanks to which you can continue to watch a movie or play comfortably while charging. The battery has a capacity of 3000 mAh and supports fast charging. The dimensions are 154 x 73 x 8.8 mm, with a weight of only 146 grams; this excellent result has been achieved through the use of magnesium and kevlar alloy. The back is slightly curved (in Sony style) to improve ergonomics. The software on board is Android 9 Pie.
The price of the new Sharp Aquos Zero is still unknown. Nevertheless, the novelty will be on sale in the winter of the current year and only from local operators. Sharp Aquos zero will be the turning point for the production of the OLED display of the Japanese house?
