Today, Sharp has announced the AQUOS R3 flagship phone in Taiwan which is the first overseas market to be released after Japan. In order to show the importance of the Taiwan market, the President of Sharp, Hashimoto Hiroshi has made a special trip to Taiwan to give a speech. The recommended price of AQUOS R3 is NT$22,990 (about $734) and it will be sold in the Aurora store from August 21st.
Let’s check out the specification of the phone, The new Sharp Aquos R3 offers a 6.2-inch quad-HD IGZO display with a waterdrop notch at the top and a cutout for a home button/fingerprint scanner at the bottom. This new phone thankfully continues the company trend of offering a 120Hz refresh rate on its flagship displays. This is a higher refresh rate than most phones out there and should result in smoother gameplay and general system navigation.
The Snapdragon 855 mobile platform fuels the AQUOS R3 smartphone with 6GB of RAM. It has an internal storage of 128GB. The smartphone is backed by a 3200mAh battery that supports fast charging through USB Type-C. It is also equipped with Qi-standard 11W wireless charging. The rear shell of the AQUOS R3 is made out of glass. It measures 156 x 74 x 8.9mm and weighs 185 grams.
The front notch houses 16MP selfie camera, which also offers a face recognition feature. The dual-LED flash enabled rear-facing dual-camera setup has an f/1.7 aperture 12.2MP primary sensor with features like OIS, high-speed autofocus and image processor engine along, with a secondary f/2.0 aperture 20MP super-wide lens with 125-degree FOV and it comes with AI-driven photography features such as AI Live Shutter and AI Live Story.
The AQUOS R3 comes pre-installed with Android 9 Pie and it is fitted with Dolby Atmos powered stereo speakers. It includes the usual connectivity features such as single/dual SIM support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, and a 3.5mm audio jack. It comes with a dedicated hardware button to summon the Google Assistant.
In addition, because R3 supports IP65/IP68 waterproof and dustproof, Sharp also designed the “wet finger touch” function on the screen, even if there are water drops on the screen, or the finger has moisture, the screen can be operated smoothly.
In terms of price, the Sharp AQUOS R3 is priced at NT$22,990 (approximately $734) and It is expected to start selling on the Aurora store in Taiwan on August 21.
