Samsung will release a new folding smartphone that folds like a clam or clamshell in February before releasing the Galaxy S11 next year. Quoted from the Yonhap News Agency on Monday, the South Korean tech giant is currently in talks with three mobile operators in the country to release a second smartphone that can be folded, with the aim of releasing it in February.
Samsung will reportedly hold an “Unpacked” launch event in the United States in mid-February, which will provide more details about the latest folding phone. Later, these folding phones will soon be available for sale.
Besides Samsung, which will release a folding model phone in early 2020, a number of other global brands, including Motorola and Huawei, will release a similar model early next year. Samsung currently plans to sell 6 million units of folding models in 2020. The name of the latest smartphone type “clamshell” has not been decided yet. However, Samsung has planned to release a second generation of Galaxy Fold in late 2020.
While the latest foldable smartphone will run on a 4th-generation internet network (LTE), the Galaxy S11 will only be available for the 5th-generation network. There are also rumors that Samsung will adopt a new name for the upcoming premium device, Galaxy 20, to mark the new year.
