Samsung has released a flagship foldable smartphone for sale exclusively in China as the second generation with the model name “Samsung W21 5G”. It is the successor to the Samsung W21, released last year. The Samsung W21 5G shares many similarities with the Galaxy Z Fold 2, both in specs and design. But there are still differences. Plus, the W21 5G is 50% more expensive than the regular Galaxy Z Fold 2.
The internal screen of the smartphone, which has two different screens, is a 7.6-inch screen with a resolution of 2208 x 1768 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz, while there is a 6.23-inch internal screen with a resolution of 2260 x 816 pixels. When closed, the Galaxy W21 5G measures 68 x 159.2 x13.8-16.8mm, which expands to 128.2 x 159.2 x 6.0-6.9mm when open. The weight of the smartphone is 288 grams.
Hardware
At the heart of the device is the flagship hardware platform Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ with the combination of 12GB RAM and 512GB storage space, it has been announced that the smartphone with a 4500mAh battery with 25W fast wired charging technology and 11W fast wireless charging.
On the front of Samsung’s new foldable phone, there are two 10MP cameras. On the back of the device, there is a triple camera module consisting of 12MP wide-angle, 12MP super wide-angle, and 12MP telephoto sensors.
Other Features
The Samsung Galaxy W21 5G includes stereo speakers tuned by AKG, a fingerprint scanner on the side, Wi-Fi 802.11ax (2.4 / 5GHz), HE80, MIMO, 1024-QAM, Bluetooth 5, GPS with GLONASS, NFC, MST, and 2-way USB Type-C (Gen 3.2). Samsung’s new foldable phone, W21 5G, use more robust and wear-resistant hinges. Last but not least, the Samsung W21 has dual SIM support, but Fold 2 doesn’t.
The Samsung W21 5G will be sold through the major Chinese network operator China Telecom, which is available for reservations via the Samsung website for 19999 yuan (about $3000) and comes with many premium privileges. Retail sales will start on November 20, but so far only in China. The global launch will be announced later.
