As per reports from Korean media outlet The Elec, Samsung Electronics is reportedly planning to procure a batch of batteries from LG Energy Solution for its upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 foldable smartphones. The collaboration between Samsung and LG for battery supply is said to have begun as early as three years ago, with LG primarily providing batteries for high-end models of Samsung like the Galaxy S series.
Recent reports from a Chinese blog indicate that both the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 have obtained certification from South Korean regulators. Battery photos shared in these reports reveal the addition of a new pull tab, which makes battery replacement easier during maintenance.
However, the certification documents mention ITM Semiconductor in Vietnam and Ningde Amperex in China as the main battery suppliers for these foldable phones. This has led to speculation by foreign tech media outlet SamMobile that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 may have multiple battery suppliers, including LG.
