At the MWC2019 Shanghai Exhibition held recently, Samsung first demonstrated the 45W fast charge USB PD charger reference design. The protocol chip model used in this reference design is SE8A. Judging from the photos taken by Weibo blogger, Samsung’s reference design is equivalent to a magnified version of the demonstration, the board and components can be clearly seen, the outer layer is wrapped in a transparent plastic glass.
It is worth mentioning that the control chip SE8A used here was launched by Samsung in May this year, and another one is the MM101. With the new PD control chip, the charger can communicate with the device to provide optimum power for more efficient charging through licensed products. Built with embedded flash memory (eFlash), the SE8A has the flexibility to modify its firmware to meet the latest specifications and deliver up to 100W (20V / 5A).
The SE8A is the industry’s first PD controller to embed a Secure Element, adding an additional layer of security to the PD controller. The new PD control chip complies with the latest USB Fast Charge Specification USB-PD 3.0, which addresses the compatibility and efficiency challenges of different mobile devices and other electronic devices.
In addition, the 45W fast charge USB PD charger reference design exhibited for the first time, according to the blogger, it also includes four ISOCELL sensors with a unit pixel of 0.8μm, including the new 64 Megapixel GW1 and 48 Megapixels. GM2.
