According to some previous reports, Samsung has started working on mid-range Galaxy A devices for the following year, and Galaxy A71 is one of them. Today, Sammobiles has published exclusive information that a Galaxy A device with model number SM-A7160 and has 128GB internal memory is being developed by Samsung.
It is known that the Galaxy A71’s global market variant has model number SM-A715F, so it is rumored that the SM-A716B will be the Galaxy A71 5G. And yet, when considering Galaxy Note 10+ 5G with model number SM-N976B for the global market and SM-N9760 for China, it is likely that SM-A7160 will be Galaxy A71 5G for China market.
The source today also shared that the Galaxy A71 5G could be the first Samsung phone to feature the new Exynos 980 chipset. The Korean company currently uses the Snapdragon 855 and Exynos 9825 chipsets for its 5G smartphones, but they will have to switch to mid-range SoCs for mid-range phones that support 5G to reduce costs. And that’s the SoC Exynos 980 that the company just launched not too long ago.
It is known that Exynos 980 is the first 5G integrated modem processor of the Korean smartphone company. This SoC is built on an 8nm process, has 8 cores with two Cortex-A77 cores, six Cortex-A55 cores, and Mali-G76 GPU. The Exynos 980 has a built-in 5G modem that reduces power consumption compared to the Exynos 9825, which requires a separate 5G modem.
Samsung‘s new chip also supports the new Wi-Fi 6 standard, currently available exclusively to Samsung’s flagship smartphones. In addition, the Exynos 980 impresses with other features such as HDR10 + video decoding and supports a 108MP camera sensor.
