Samsung recently demonstrated a foldable mobile phone supporting an S Pen stylus slot, which they will use in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 to be released next year. The patent outlines two design options, one of which places the stylus slot on the back of the phone, similar to the S Pen protective cover, but with the slot directly embedded in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 foldable phone below the camera.
Another solution involves placing the stylus slot on the side of the phone, with an irregular design for the screen part, extending the upper part slightly, and magnetically attaching the lower part to the S Pen. According to the patent, Samsung’s vision is to make its foldable device as slim as possible. However, integrating the stylus slot into the device will increase its volume, resulting in an overall thickness increase, making it more likely to use innovative external connectivity solutions.
The patent also outlines Samsung’s future S Pen design, offering various button design options to enable precise digital sketching, 3D modeling, detailed annotation, accurate color selection, and more.
