A week before its official presentation alongside the Galaxy Note 20, Samsung’s new folding smartphone is revealed thanks to a stolen photo that confirms its name: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2.
The image appeared in a tweet published by the profile @ hwangmh01 in reference to Max Weinbach, from XDA-Developers. The photo shows the open cell phone, with the “Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G” mark on the boot screen of the operating system (boot), and reinforces previous rumors about the name of the listed line to succeed the Galaxy Fold.
Another feature possibly confirmed on the cell phone is the internal screen, which has a hole to house the front camera. If this is in fact the next launch of the South Korean brand, the smartphone will have greater use of the display compared to its predecessor, which has a cutout in the upper right corner.
Details about the outside of the smartphone were not sampled by the publication, but it is rumored that the Galaxy Z Fold 2 will have a 6.23-inch display on the outside and a 7.59-inch display with 120Hz refresh rate on the inside. There would be two 10MP front sensors housed in a punch on each of these slabs. On the rear photo configuration side, we could be entitled to three sensors: 12MP, 12MP, and 64MP. Finally, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 should have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ SoC, 256/512GB of storage, and a 4365mAh battery.
The price remains unknown at this point, but some rumors assume that it will be the same as the first iteration of the folding smartphone, namely $2100 in our regions. About the launch, it is expected that Samsung will present the Galaxy Z Fold 2 on August 5 during the Galaxy Unpacked 2020 virtual event, along with the Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Tab S7, Galaxy Watch 3 and Galaxy Buds Live.
