Samsung launched the first foldable smartphone on the market in 2019, but it also started directly at an MSRP of over $2203. In 2020 we could see the successor to the Galaxy Fold, but before that, the Galaxy Z Flip is coming up.
This is said to be shown on February 11 at the S20 event and, according to Max Weinbach of the XDA Developers, should also be available in the US from February 14 for $1400. There are no details for the European market.
No wonder, Samsung has an Unpacked event set for the 11th, when the company is expected to announce the successor of the Galaxy S10. If the rumor is confirmed, the Galaxy Z Flip will be a cheaper alternative to the Galaxy Fold. In the United States, Fold was launched last October at $1980.
The model will have a design similar to the Motorola Razr, with the screen folding on the horizontal axis. The device must also have a new glass, called Ultra-Thin Glass, replacing the polymer one.
Another of the filtered features of this new Samsung mobile phone lies in its cameras and battery. On the one hand, Weinbach indicates that the Galaxy Z Flip will have two 12MP sensors, of which one would have a wide-angle lens and the other would have an ultra-wide-angle lens, regardless of other sensors such as telephoto or macro. It also informs about the fast charging of the device that would be 15W, in addition to offering compatibility with wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.
He also comments that its exterior screen would have a diagonal of 1 inch and its usefulness would be referred to as the reception of notifications and basic queries such as the time or the state of the battery. In terms of its processor, this would be the Snapdragon 855+, top of the range of the Korean firm Qualcomm, possibly the best Android processor of 2019, so it would not be compatible with 5G networks.
