Samsung is gearing up to launch its latest smartwatch entry with the upcoming Galaxy Watch 3. We have seen several leaks, including a support page that confirmed their arrival in 41mm and 45mm variants, in both cellular and non-cellular versions. Now, we have our first look at the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 series thanks to a listing at South Korea’s NRRA certification agency.
The images show both sizes of the upcoming watch and also confirm the model numbers with the SM-R840 being the 41mm version, while the SM-R850 is the larger 45mm model. The new design appears to have slimmer bezels than previous Galaxy Watches and also brings back the physical rotating bezel.
Yesterday we learned that the smallest version of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 will come with a 1.2-inch screen, while the larger 45mm variant will have a 1.6-inch panel. Both models include some common features: Heart rate measurement, blood pressure monitoring, and ECG sensor. It is not yet known whether the ECG feature will be available globally.
Both versions will be IP68 rated and will come with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard storage. On the software side, we look forward to Tizen OS 5.5. While the battery with the 41 mm model will be 247mAh, the battery with the 45 mm model is stronger as you can imagine and 340mAh appears.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 is also expected to offer up to 5W wireless charging, and it is reported that this watch will be produced in Vietnam. It seems likely that we will encounter a smartwatch at an event in August.
